I've got news for you. I'm up to something new!
Launching my newsletter - Pursuit by Kamna Kirti
Hello there and welcome to my newsletter - Pursuit.
I’ve been looking forward to this day for a while and I have been intending to write an exclusive newsletter to summarize my work from the week.
As part of the newsletter, I’ll be sharing my exclusive, well-researched and value-packed content on art and entrepreneurship. The newsletter is a curation of my work on all platforms including Medium, YouTube and LinkedIn.
I’d also share book, blog and podcast recommendations along with my personal experiments with writing. I’d never spam you. Promise.
So without further ado, let’s go!
My top article from this week
This week I wrote about 5 of the most frighteningly beautiful paintings that would leave you anxious. Consider it my Spooktober or Halloween gift!
In our search for existence as humans, we have a natural tendency to be drawn to the macabre. Why? you might ask. The voyeuristic pleasure we seek in engaging with disquieting art stems from a sense of fascination with monsters, death and fright from a relatively safe distance.
From Francisco Goya to Salvador Dalí, many prolific painters have quenched their anxieties by portraying monsters, evil and darkness to come to haunt us after decades of them being into existence.
Personal milestone achieved this week
I now have more than 6.5k followers on Medium and have been a top writer on Art for 3 consecutive weeks across Medium.
Also, my YouTube channel Frame of Reference has more reached more than 75 watch hours and has been growing consistently. I hope to continue his steady pace.
The Hidden Scientific Meaning Behind Michelangelo's 'Creation of Adam' has been the top-performing video with more than 2.5K views. If you haven’t already, do consider checking out the channel and show some love by subscribing to me there.
This week I watched
Even since I watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix, I have had a very uncomfortable feeling of being controlled by algorithms. So much so, that I uninstalled Facebook and Instagram from my phone.
My screentime is now down to 2 hours per day and I am happy to report that I have been more productive. I am heading towards digital minimalism and being very conscious of what I share on social media.
It’s an experiment I hope to continue at least for a while. I do recommend checking out this movie on Netflix.
This week I learned
I am immensely inspired by the story of Sara Blakely, founder and owner of SPANX, who turned $5B into $1B with her tenacity and grit.
SPANX is an intimate apparel brand that has proved to be a perfect body shaping solution for women of all shapes and sizes.
In my article about SPANX, I share how Sara’s journey to entrepreneurship has been so impactful and inspiring that it is taught in top B-Schools across America.
My plans for the next week
In an effort to bring out the best content, I have enrolled myself in Ship 30 for 30’s cohort-based writing program. I am delighted to share that I have been consistently writing short-form, atomic essays as part of the program’s challenge.
I am looking forward to continuing the program and create meaningful and valuable content for 30 consecutive days. So far so good!
